About Us

The Nanaimo Gladiolus and Dahlia Society is a small dedicated group which was founded in 1964 and joined the Pacific Northwest Dahlia Conference shortly after and we're members of the American Dahlia Society,  the North American Gladiolus Council and the Canadian Gladiolus Society.    Members have the option to join these groups as well as to share  knowledge and encouragement to successfully grow glads and dahlias.

Our mission is to encourage and inspire the growing, showing and enjoyment of gladiolus and dahlias.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 1st at 7  pm in Philip Anglican Church Hall, 1797 Cedar Road, Cedar.   Doors open at 6:30.   Our guest speaker will be Connie Kuramoto, who has been gardening since she was a child.   Connie introduces her presentation as follows:     "Building and taking care of your soil is really about providing for the creatures who live in your soil. Our presentation this month will introduce you to some of these creatures, and talk about their job descriptions as well as their care and feeding.

Nurture your microbes, and they will in turn nurture your plants. Learn to build your soil ecosystems so that the checks and balances of nature can assist you in growing healthy and beautiful plants and the diversity in your soil can provide resilience in our changing climate."

Our Glad Corm and Dahlia Tuber Sale will be on Saturday, April 26, 2025, 10 am to 2 pm at Country Club Centre, 3200 North Island Highway, Nanaimo.   There will be lots of corms and tubers to choose from!

Our Flower Show will be on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24, also at the Country Club Centre.
